Functional Movement Training
Functional movement training is specifically designed to help you move better in everyday, real-world situations. You will move more easily in a pain- and tension- free range of motion. You will enhance your lifestyle with training specifically designed to suit your needs. You will relax more and breathe easier.
Functional training and yoga therapy advocate training in layers: you must first learn to relax, then move, and lastly to build strength. Trying to strengthen tension-filled muscles and painful joints is counterproductive. “Working through the pain” doesn’t work. I’ve lived it, and I’ve seen it over and over again. The truth is, you’ve got to do less, to get more. Truly pain-free motion must build on a foundation of tension-free movement and optimal joint function. And once you’ve created these positive habits, you can do anything you want!
Functional training methods are effective no matter your age or gender, whether you are an athlete, a weekend warrior, or a grandparent who simply wants to continue playing with your grandchildren. After our initial functional movement consultation, I will design an integrative health and wellness program to meet your personal wellness goals.
